Installation error - no products available to install

When I try to install MATLAB from downloads, I get the following error message:
There are no products available to install from this location. You may need to download the appropriate products from our web-site (www.mathworks.com)
I've this question asked and answered on another thread - apparently matlab downloads zip files that can only be unzipped by the matlab installer. But for whatever reason my downloader unzips them automatically. I have no idea how to get around this, and it takes HOURS to download all those files - and I have to do it again? Would greatly appreciate insight into how to install matlab successfully.

Don't waste your time and call installation support.

Shortly after I posted the question I figured it out. 1) Under the Safari menu tab I selected "preferences", and in the window that popped up I UN -checked the box that says "Open 'safe' files after downloading." This allowed Safari to download the files without unzipping them. 2) I moved the files from the download folder to my target installation folder and unzipped ONLY the installer file. 3) I moved the other zip files inside the unzipped installer folder and 4) double-clicked "InstallForMacOSX".
There really should be better guidance for this process.
