How is it possible to avoid the need to set the renderer to painters for having good contour plots?

Every time I make a contour plot I must use the same instruction to set the renderer to painters.

Is there any way to avoid this? I would like to specify the use of painters for contour plots by default. Probably I could put this instruction somewhere in the setup, but then what if I wanted to use an other renderer?

What benefit are you finding with setting the renderer to painters?

Have you tried giving the command

opengl software

to see whether the plot is better for your purposes?
