Why does MATLAB Report Generator 3.3 (R2008a) hang at startup?

1 view (last 30 days)
I have Report Generator installed in my system but when I try to start it either using the Start Menu or the REPORT command, it seems to hang. The GUI opens up, but the middle panel titled 'Names' shows the status 'searching' and freezes Report Generator. If I try to close Report Generator, it closes MATLAB as well.

This is probably due to a corrupt preferences file in the system. Please delete the 'dastudio.prf' as follows:
1) At the MATLAB Command Prompt, type PREFDIR to find the location of the preferences directory.
2) Navigate to this directory outside MATLAB.
3) Exit MATLAB
4) Delete the 'dastudio.prf' file.
5) Restart MATLAB.
