Payroll Business Systems Analyst

Job Summary

We are seeking a Payroll Business Systems Analyst to support and evolve our Workday Payroll platform.

In this role, you will develop deep functional expertise in Workday Payroll and partner closely with Payroll, HR, HRIS, and Finance to ensure accurate and compliant payroll operations. Your initial focus will be supporting and improving US payroll processes and will expand to support global needs. You must demonstrate a continous process improvement mindset and proactively identify and escalate issues or anomalies with a solution-driven approach.

Responsibilities

  • Further develop expertise in Workday Payroll, including configuration, reporting, and intergrations with HCM, Absence and Time Tracking.
  • Collaborate with Payroll, HR, and HRIS to translate business needs and compliance requirements into system updates.
  • Evaluate and test Workday releases, enhancements, and fixes; document and communicate results.
  • Own and drive Workday Payroll reporting process and improvements; gather requirements, design, develop, and iterate on reports
  • Collaborate globally to identify and implement process improvements to boost efficiency, accuracy and scalability. Create business cases and project charters, obtain approvals, and execute as agreed.
  • Lead payroll‑related projects, including defining scope, managing approvals, testing, and change management.
  • Participate in payroll reviews investigate anomalies, and conduct root-cause analysis
  • Lead annual 401(k) discretionary match calculation and audits (financial, Workers' Comp, 401(k)).
  • Stay updated on payroll and tax regulations; communicate impacts to management.
  • Serve as a backup for payroll processing to ensure operational continuity. 

Minimum Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree and 6 years of professional work experience (or a master's degree and 3 years of professional work experience, or equivalent experience) is required.

Additional Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field
  • 6+ years of payroll experience, preferably in the high‑technology industry, including multi‑state payroll exposure
  • Experience with Workday HCM and Payroll configuration
  • Familiarity with payroll processing and payroll taxes
  • Strong systemsand process improvement mindset
  • Proficiency with Excel and Microsoft Office application
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
  • High accuracy and strong attention to detail
  • Prioritize effectively to meet deadlines
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving and documentation skills
  • Excellent communication, customer service and collaboration skills
  • Ability to interact with all levels of staff, vendors, and agencies
  • Strong documentation, audit trail, and controls mindset
  • Knowledge of accounting concepts and accural-based processes
